Assuming that you have what is often called a “pre-potent” sire or bitch (that is one that always producess puppies very similar to herself) you have a good chance of puppies which will have the traits you expect and want. If you are in that position with your bitch you will then be awaiting on her dog breeding heat cycle. Such animals must themselves have a “good linebred pedigree” and that in technical language is one that is inbred just so much that the animal is called – homozygous – for as many as possible of the characteristics that you/the breeder considers desirable.

The first sign of a female (also called a Dam) coming “Into Season” is often a swelling of the vulva. This swelling can occur a week before bleeding, or the day before. Other signs of heat are behavioral changes, your Dam may start to hump other Dams, or pups or even your leg. She may also begin to lick her self a lot.

Watch for this and mark your calendar. This will help, but not guarantee, you a good heads up for next time. Mark the first day of swelling as day 1. First day of red blood will work if you don\’t know this date.

You will also find that boy dogs become interested. Simply watch for the blood, and the swelling of the vulva, and you will be able to tell when a female dog is in heat.

While it is not a hard rule to apply in all cases, most female dogs come into their first heat cycle at around six months of age, although I have had them wait as long as one to one and a half years old. As a general rule females will hold to a fairly steady schedule of coming into season about every six months, but as they say rules are made to be broken and it really can vary quite a bit. Some bitches will only come into heat once year, while others may even come in as often as once every four months, but often these “extra” seasons are not always fertile. Breeders usually advise that once a female has her first season, you should track her dates through subsequent seasons to find out what her natural pattern will be.

So, it stands to reason that you female can be bred when she goes into heat. To help you decide when to breed with her let\’s go thorugh the sequence. First she will get a swelled vulva(“place”) and will bleed out of it blood ranging in color anywhere from milky to red. She may also urinate more often and males will be more attracted to her.

Her heat can be said to have started and on average lasts 3 weeks, and progresses as follows. About one week after going into heat (a stage lasting from 1-17 days), and for one week in heat (this stage lasts from 3-21 days) you should have the male (“Stud”) around. However, as the length of the heat is so variable in dogs the Stud should be available from from the first day, just to be sure not to miss the right time.

If she is an average bitch and does not become pregnant she will go into heat again about 6 months later. If she does get fertilized she will be pregnant for 58-66 days counting from about the time she was mated.

You should not breed with your dog when she is less than about 9 months old, or preferably 1 year.

When you let your bitch mate be sure that your female is both physically and mentally mature enough to be bred. Just the fact of her being in heat is NOT enough to justify a breeding. A general rule of thumb is to breed from a female on her 2nd heat or 15 months old, but many say leave it another heat before starting and this can vary by breed and individual. We recommend that you consult with reputable breeders of your breed and/or your veterinarian on this point.

Male dogs mature sexually at about six months of age. When both testicles are descended, theoretically the dog can mate, but it is best to wait until the dog is nine to twelve months old before using it for breeding. This is to allow the dog to fully mature and a heavy breeding season might stunt his growth.

In today\’s urban society where most male dogs are confined to limited territory and most bitches are desexed, the male dog has fewer opportunities for mating now than they did in the wild. Some believe this causes behavioral changes in many male dogs. Undersexed male dogs, the reasoning goes, are more likely to bite, to fight with other dogs, chase cars, exhibit sexual deviations (such as riding legs!). In fact this is a difficult theory to prove either to be accurate or not.

Breeding a dog can be a very joyful experience. It is very important to remember that dog breeding involves a lot of dedication, patience and responsibility coupled with a great deal of knowledge about dog reproduction and the dog reproduction cycle. You also need to bear in mind that dog breeding is an expensive undertaking. Like skilled dog breeders, a dog breeding beginner should have thorough knowledge about his or her chosen breed. Most breeders are very loyal to their dogs and their dog’s welfare is their primary concern. However too often, people are willing to sacrifice the health and welfare of their bitch for the sake of making a profit. Don\’t forget also that you will need to be able to sell your puppies, and that may not be easy at all in the current economic circumstances.

Professional breeders allow dogs to mate for a specific purpose which may be to create pups for sale and at other times to carry on a purebred line. Such breeders have access to records which show a dog’s lineage and they are also aware of the difficulties involved in the dog reproduction process of the breed that they handle. Our plea here is that if you plan to breed for the first time, you really must obtain expert advice from other breeders about your Dam, and the Stud you plan to use, before proceeding.

This article illustrates the amazing diversity found within the animal kingdom. Below, I have compiled what I feel are some of the most interesting facts about reptiles and their behavior.

Interesting Reptile Facts

There are more than 8,000 species of reptiles on the planet, and the live on every continent except Antarctica (where it is too cold).
Most kinds of reptiles do not tolerate the cold very well. But the Blanding’s turtle (Emydoidea blandingii) is sometimes found swimming under the ice in the Great Lakes region of the United States.
Reptiles are among the longest-lived species on the planet. For example, large tortoises such as the Aldabra tortoise can live for more than 150 years. Alligators can live nearly 70 years. Ball pythons, a popular type of pet snake, can live up to 40 years (consider that before getting one as a pet).
Most of the world’s snakes (nearly two-thirds) are non-venomous. Only about 500 snake species are venomous, and of those only 30 – 40 are considered harmful to humans. In other words, less than 2 percent of all snakes are considered harmful to humans.
It is a fact that more Americans die each year from bee stings than from snake bites.
With regard to reptile fact #4 above, the opposite is true in Australia. There are actually more venomous snakes in Australia than non-venomous snakes. The inland taipan is one of the most popular of these venomous Australian snakes. Australia is the only continent where venomous snakes outnumber non-venomous snakes.
Certain types of snakes can go months without eating. This is especially true of the big constrictors, such as the Anaconda and the reticulated python. Snakes eat large meals (relative to their body size), and they have much slower metabolisms than we humans have. This partly explains how they can go so long between meals.
“Cold-blooded” is not the best way to describe reptiles. Their blood is not necessarily cold by itself. But they are ectothermic, which means they get their body heat from external sources. Reptiles cannot regulate their body temperature internally as humans do.
Snakes and lizards flick their tongues in the air to capture scent particles. They don’t smell through their noses like you and I. Instead, the use their tongues to collect scent particles and then pass the particles over something called a Jacobson’s organ to decipher the air around them. This is partly how reptiles hunt for food.
True to its name, the African egg-eating snake (of the genus Dasypeltis) prefers to dine on the eggs of other animals. It will swallow the egg whole, and then use tiny “spikes” extending internally from its spine to crack the egg open and swallow the nutritious contents. Lastly, it will regurgitate the unneeded egg shell in a neatly folded piece.

If you are looking for an exotic pet like an iguana, you should look for reputable pet shops or exotic pet breeders. Iguanas are perfect exotic pets for teens. They are cheaper compared to other exotic pets like snakes and exotic breeds of dogs. Here are some recommended tips to consider when buying an exotic pet from pet breeders.

1. You should first decide what type of exotic pet you might want to have. If you decide to buy an iguana, make sure that you have already prepared a cage where the iguana can live conveniently.

2. Ask the exotic pet breeder about the iguana’s adaptation to any kind of environment. Exotic animals may have different living conditions depending on the environment where they live.

3. You should consider if the members of your household can live with an exotic pet like the iguana. They too should know how to care for the pet.

4. Make sure that you purchase an exotic animal from a reputable pet breeder. You may research on the Internet for a selection of pet shops and pet breeders that offer cheaper prices of iguanas.

5. To check on the breed of the iguana, you should look at its skin if it has open pores, this means that the breed of the iguana is very good. You may also check if the iguana has bright and clear eyes.

6. Pet breeders should provide you tips and guidelines on how to take proper care of an iguana. Ask the pet owner what food the iguana eats. You may also ask how many times you should feed the animal in a day.

7. You should buy a cage that is fit for iguanas. The cage should have proper lighting and should have a good cover. Make sure that your iguana is safe from cats or dogs.

8. Ask for legal papers that will prove that you have bought the iguana from a legal pet breeder. There are pet breeders who illegally sell exotic animals they may have gotten from restricted forests.

When buying an exotic pet, make sure that you have the capacity to take care of it. You should be responsible as a new exotic pet owner. You should pay attention to your pet since it is still new in your home. You should also remember if having an iguana inside your home would be safe for younger kids.

Protein based baits are famed for their attraction to big carp, catfish and barbel etc, but the protein impacts and effects in pellets, particles, boilies and various ground baits are very much enhanced with unusual extra ingredients and substances that you might not have associated with such fishing baits ever before! So find out more and catch more big fish on cheap thermogenic homemade baits and ground baits and improve your options for life!

One of the old traditional paste and boilie protein ingredients is sausage meat. This has a long proven record for catching carp and other big fish with a high energy need and is an oily bait ingredient that is made easier to digest with the addition of various spices (more on the reason for this below!) Proteins such as in sausage meat, poultry meal, the various molluscs and crustaceans such as mussel and krill and fish such as salmon and tuna for example, all have a thermogenic effect on the body.

These in effect raise the temperature of the body due to the heat energy resulting from chemical reactions during various processes that release the vital energy that sustains survival; such as the burning of glucose in cellular respiration. Other processes related to this are the burning of fats in the body and digestion and assimilation of food and the associated raising of the metabolic rate in the body.

Very many thermogenic substances enter the bloodstream directly and are instant in effect in humans and carp for instance! Basically, by leveraging thermogenic ingredients and substances in your carp baits of all kinds, you can raise energy levels in your carp, encourage them to feed much more on your baits and so improve your catches short and long-term!

Thermogenic substances and thermogenic elements of foods are very familiar common to us and include Aspirin. Aspirin is an anti-inflammatory and the subject of anti-inflammatory substances and effects in relation to metabolic rate and efficient energy generation are extremely significant in fishing bait design! In fact an element of krill (canthaxanthin) is one of the ingredients used in some of the leading weight-loss pills available today (alongside caffeine and ephedra,) and is so many say one of the reasons that the legendary carp bait additive called Robin Red, is so very effective! I believe ephedra of ephedrine fame in James Bond books for instance, is illegal in the UK (but who knows until you try getting hold of some!)

In thermogenics, fat is burned off by the body to enable various processes to happen such as digestion. Because the cells in your body are alive and breathing they need oxygen and the metabolism rate is adjustable to ensure you always get the right level of oxygen and energy supplied to keep your cells alive; very many carp bait substances do this.

Included in this list are fruit powders think of mulberry, acai berry, goji berry, cranberry and strawberry for instance, and garlic allicins for example. Cheese and garlic both have thermogenic effects so it is no surprise these are great in winter baits where carp metabolism rates benefit from them in low water temperatures. As it happens I have no doubt whatsoever that much of the success of the famous flavour called Tutti Fruitti is indeed due to its potent thermogenic and other bioactive impacts on fish far beyond simple smell and flavour implications!

You will most often experience very obvious thermogenic effects on your body when eating a hot curry. Again, it is no surprise that so many fruit, herb and spice extracts and essential oils are so effective when used in carp baits in winter! Think about it; what do you crave and what turns you on and gives your body an instant burst of energy? The caffeine in Coke, in chocolate, Red Bull and coffee and tea are easy examples but there are very many potent others besides for use in carp baits.

It has been suggested that the leading carp bait and ingredients supplier Ccmoore, use nettle powder in certain ground baits for the same powerful reasons and why they have developed their own extremely potent liquid additive called Red Venom and their Cantax Red 365 pellets designed for all year round use, and exploiting canthaxanthin. I have a bag of ginger powder I dip into for bait and cooking use for the same reason and red chilli peppers are probably the most well known example in terms of current fashions that have powerfully attractive impacts on carp in many ways, including long range attraction providing a protein-feeding response and obviously raising the body temperature and metabolic rate and naturally improving your chances of takes even in low temperatures in winter!

Ccmoore chilli extract is a very instant way to instantly give your bait an extra bioactive kick not just for winter baits and very importantly all ground baits and particles too, but all year round. You might well find that combining a number of essential oils together in your baits of all kinds also raises fish metabolism and your catch results big-time (these have produced bonus big fish for me again and again.) Ccmoore has chosen in their range the most reliable performing thermogenic and potently antioxidant (a vital factor in immunity-boosting) essential oils. It includes the legendary carp attractor aniseed oil and the popular but much over-used black pepper oil of course, plus geranium essential oil, clove oil and thyme oil. There are many others which simply just do not get known often because the sensible and more secretive anglers do not want others to be using them on their waters too (I have mentioned very many more of the top most potently reliable ones in my ebooks!)

You might not realise that components of essential oils are used in the production of some of the very most successful flavours and this includes the terpenes and phenols. (Thyme is very significant contribution in some great flavours!) It really makes scientific sense to add the most reliable and well proven thermogenic essential oils to your baits that need all the hep they can get for their proteins to perform at their best; essential oils really help in many various ways!

So if you want a very cheap homemade bait you might simply choose to make a very cheap soya and semolina bait, boosted with some whey protein concentrate or lactalbumin, or more economical poultry meal. (Poultry protein meal is highly thermogenic and equal in protein in many respects as many fish meals; chicken type baits have been extremely popular in recent years for big carp, catfish and barbel for instance!)

As an attractor combination, using enzyme-treated yeast with corn steep liquor powder and Feedstim XP powder is a bit different and each element is very highly proven! You will do very well using it alongside Ccmoore Liquid Salmon and Krill Extract, Liquid Super Slop and Liquid Red Venom for example. I have produced my own versions in the making baits ranging from homemade pellets and pastes to homemade boilies to making boosted readymade base mixes, like the Odyssey XXX, Meteor and Live System.

But even a cheap soya and semolina bait can be boosted with the addition of just a couple of additves. For example predigested fish meal, soluble fish protein, krill meal, squid flesh meal, blood powder, crunchy kelp meal, or even the highly attractive and soluble sodium and calcium caseinates (that like so many milk derivatives and fractions include special addictive properties!)

Adding chilli powder, blue cheese powder and concentrated garlic powder for instance, are great ideas for very many applications; from making cheap all year round baits, to bait dips, to boosting pellets and particles with unusual and potent homemade glugs that will really work! Why not see details of my unique carp and catfish bait making money-saving secrets ebooks at Baitbigfish on Google etc – they make very stimulating reading!
