ATLANTA, March 17 (UPI) – The Kinkajou, a native of South American mammals, sometimes as a pet, was found to harbor a parasite that can be fatal, officials of the United States caution.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention s' Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, published Thursday, said the three States with the parasitic worm Baylisascaris procyonis, also known as worm kinkajous pet raccoon, which can cause serious illness or death in humans.

"If the animal is infected with Baylisascaris procyonis nematodes, infection can spread from animals to humans through the feces contaminated with worm eggs," the report said. "The pet owners, exotic pet breeders, veterinarians and health workers should be aware of this risk, especially if the Kinkajou was kept around children. Measures to prevent infection include good hygiene practices like washing hands regularly, disposal of animal waste quickly and ensure that all animals, including kinkajous are given regular veterinary care and treatment. "

All animals kept as pets – especially foreigners – need regular veterinary care to keep them healthy and protect the health of their owners, health officials recommended that the CDC.

Nokia has built a hamster wheel on a human scale at SXSW this year, as part of the "green zone" in the festival. The wheel can be used to upload any type of mobile device, and will be until 20 March.
